CASTROL Alphasyn GS 220

Industrial Gear Oils

Alphasyn GS 220 is recommended for high-temperature lubrication of gears and bearings, particularly in calenders or large scale mills. It can be used for +150 °C continuous temperature and up to +220 °C for short periods.

Alphasyn GS has way better thermal- and oxidation-stability than mineral oil based gear oils or fatty oils. Higher thermal-stability ensures the minimal formation of sludge and deposits.

Alphasyn GS 220 is not miscible with mineral oils.
Polyalkylene glycol (PAG) lubricants, like the Alphasyn GS 220, are compatible with nitrile rubber (NBR), fluoro-silicone rubber (FVMQ), and vinyl-methyl-polysiloxane rubber (VMQ) seals.
Also, these gear oils are not compatible with regular industrial paints. Gearboxes should be left unpainted internally or should be painted with two-component coatings such as epoxy resins.
